Nelissa Chaudhry

Nelissa Chaudhry discovered her passion for pottery through her good friend and ceramic artist Wayne Malleau. After Wayne moved to Manitoulin Island, she took continuing education classes at Mohawk College (Stoney Creek campus) with artists like Andrew Kellner, and Rob Dorante.

Later she joined the Georgetown Potters Guild, as she lived in Brampton. On moving to Ottawa, she became part of the pottery community by exploring studio classes, and joining the Ottawa Guild of Potters. She creates beautiful and functional ceramics using wheel-thrown and hand-building techniques. She draws inspiration from the mystical nature of the Northern Lights, the intricate geometry in Islamic Architecture, the imagination of Talavera and Moroccan Artists, the evolutionary characteristics of carnivorous plant species and the magic of the forested trails throughout her new home of Ottawa. After taking some Intermediate classes and the teacher training course at Hintonburg Pottery, she felt right at home. Nelissa has joined the team, and is currently teaching Spin the Wheel Workshops.
