Melanie Tayler
Mel’s pottery journey began with a casual “spin the wheel” class at Hintonburg Pottery, where she quickly fell in love with working on the wheel. This happy accident lead her to passionately pursue learning techniques from different potters from around the world.
She’s especially drawn to throwing and then modifying larger forms like bowls and planters, enjoying the rhythm and challenge of working with bigger pieces. Mel explores form and scale while embracing the character of different surface decoration techniques that make handmade pottery unique.
Mel focuses on creating a fun and welcoming environment in her classes. She encourages students to learn step by step, experiment with clay, and to enjoy pushing the boundaries of making something by hand.
