Special Event on Sept 30th, 2023
On September 30th, 2023 Hintonburg Pottery will be hosting a free community awareness event in solidarity with Truth and Reconciliation. Clay is from the earth, and so are each of us. By connecting with the clay and creating a pinch pot, we embrace that we are all part of one planet, one body of people. While we create our pots, we remember that this has not always been the way. On this day, we remember, honour and acknowledge those children who died while attending a residential school in Canada.
We invite you to join us at the studio to take part in a guided moment to remembering the lives lost
- We will create pinch pots together and place a candle inside each
- Write a message or a drawing to place inside a clay jug designed to hold our thoughts and prayers
- People will be invited to inscribe the clay jug using our hands with wet clay from the earth
