We have amazing teachers! Our goal is to deliver a satisfying and creative experience for all  students.

 Classes run from  4-6 weeks and we offer both Handbuilding and Wheel classes. There is something for everyone!

Handbuilding Classes

This technique is for building pots and objects using only the hands and simple tools. We use a variety of fun techniques like stamping and carving to create unique pieces.

Beginner 

This class is for adults and teens 14 and up with little to no experience but is also great for returning students. . This is an introductory class to the basics of handbuilding. Example projects will be provided and your own ideas will be encouraged to explore using the basic handbuilding techniques -coiling, pinching, carving and surface decorating.

Beginner

This class is for adults and teens 14 and up with little to no experience but is also great for returning students. . This is an introductory class to the basics of handbuilding. Sgraffito

Sgraffito is a form of decoration made by scratching through surface layers to reveal contrasting coloured clay.  In this class you will make your own pots and be taught the beautiful art of decorating using this technique to create patterns and images.This class is for adults with little to no experience but is also great for returning students.  Example images will be provided.

Beginner and Advanced

 "Whymsical Creations- Garden Sculptures"   - beginner and advanced

Basic handbuilding techniques – coiling, pinching, slab-building - will be used in this class.

Wheel Throwing Classes

Wheel throwing involves using the potter's wheel to make objects. Beginner and Intermediate classes offered

Beginner Class

This class is for adults and teens 14 and up with little to no experience, but also great for returning students. This is an introductory class to wheel throwing. We will take you from the beginning stages of wedging a clump of mud right through to making a cylinder and then onto making bowls, cups, and other little treasures.

Beginner 2 Class

This class will build on skills learned in the beginner’s throwing class but is less advanced than the intermediate class. The focus will be on improving throwing skills, developing forms and throwing larger pieces. Starting  with basic bowls and cylinders, the class will look at improving throwing skills, developing the shapes, throwing in repetition, and making larger pieces,

Teacher: Nina Marchewka

Beginner Class

This class is suitable for first time potters, but is also a great for returning students. In this session we will work on basic cylinders, mugs, simple shapes, and, time permitting, lidded forms. We will also work with a variety of decorating techniques. Each student can expect to create and eclectic collection of pots.

 

 

 

Intermediate Class

This class will build on skills learned in the beginner’s throwing class.  A minimum of 3-4 beginner throwing classes is a prerequisite for this class, as well as being able to centre 2 lbs of clay and pull a cylinder with ease.

Starting  with basic bowls and cylinders, the class will look at improving throwing skills, developing the shapes, throwing in repetition, and making larger pieces This class will build on skills learned in the beginner’s throwing class. The focus will be on improving throwing skills, developing forms and throwing larger pieces.
